Everdream Offers Daylight Saving Support for Windows Systems

FREMONT, Calif. February 27, 2007 Everdream, the market leader in delivering cost effective, low risk on-demand desktop management services, today announced that it has developed two patches to help companies prepare for the new Daylight Saving Time (DST) schedule. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandates that DST start three weeks earlier and end one week later than in the past, forcing some Windows users with no IT support to manually update their operating systems and calendar programs to reflect the change.

Computer clocks and many computer programs are programmed to automatically update their time to account for DST. However, due to the shift, software created before 2005 will not take the new DST standard into account. This can lead to missed meetings, inaccurate transactions and problems especially with scheduling and billing applications, transactional hardware & software (i.e. Point-Of-Sale), or anything dependent on an accurate timestamp.

Everdreams proactive patches, safeguarding corporate PCs and minimizing business downtime, are available to customers immediately and can be deployed in hours with only a few clicks to mitigate any DST concerns. The first patch will update Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000, while the second patch will update Outlook 2003, XP and 2000. Both patches are deployed to all systems, regardless of location, with Everdreams easy-to-use Patch Management software service. This service delivers these patches automatically to all Windows XP SP2 systems and those with Outlook 2003 and XP. For Windows 2000 systems, the same service can be used to manually distribute the patches. Both Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 do not require any updates.

"Our goal is provide our customers with the desktop management tools and deployment framework necessary to ensure seamless business operations during potentially damaging and time consuming circumstances, such as this years early Daylight Saving Time change," said Mark Hoffman, CEO of Everdream. "With Everdream, customers can manage their mobile, distributed computers anytime, from anywhere in the world, significantly reducing IT operations costs and allowing businesses to move critical IT resources away from day-to-day maintenance activities to strategic line of business initiatives.

Everdreams platform requires no VPN or servers to administer increasing the speed and flexibility with which IT can manage computers and keep pace with the high rate of change in highly distributed environments."
